Women's competition
The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne Koski was the winner in the first race. Tia Clair Toomey Orr was also victorious. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall and Eramoo O'Connell came in second and third, respectively. It was the first Games women's event and the women hoped to complete it.
The women's competition features top-level female athletes. The field features nine athletes, including a 19 year-old Australian powerhouse who won this competition last year. Kara Saunders, an Australian athlete who finished second in Australia in the team division and eleventh overall in 2020 is another contender. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.
Pegboard contest
The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. Along with dumbbell overhead squats and double-unders, it was included in the Games' summer Olympic programme. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 (for men) and was awarded his third Games win. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

CrossFit Games athletes train by focusing on ten core physical skills: strength, flexibility and speed. Pegboard is a contest that tests competitor's grip strength as well as coordination. Two wooden pegs are held between the hands of each competitor to gauge their grip strength. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.
System of cutting
CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. It's not as extreme as the cuts used in past Games, but still very different than this year. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. CrossFit's decision on how to adjust the points distributed after cuts remains a question. The scoring table used to determine the winners in the 2019 games was very similar to the one used to determine the losers in 2021. This is why it's most likely that the current system will be used.
This year's CrossFit Games Field includes 236 athletes. This is the largest field in its history. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is reduced to 75 athletes. The top 30 then compete in a sprint couplet to determine the top ten. The top 20 competitors then compete for the remaining six events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok recently announced new CrossFit Games equipment, including clothing and shoes. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Reebok has billed this shoe as "the shoe of fitness," but it actually feels more like a traditional training shoe.
